Privacy Policy
Effective October 19, 2026
The short version
- HabitLoot doesn't collect any data. We can't see your family's information.
- There are no accounts, ads, analytics, or tracking.
- Everything you enter stays on your devices and in your own iCloud account.
- Children's names, reasons, and rewards are end-to-end encrypted in iCloud.
What HabitLoot stores, and where
To work, HabitLoot keeps the things you enter: your children's first names, the colors you pick for them, allowance amounts and points, rewards and deductions with their reasons, savings goals, and your settings.
This information is stored on your iPhone or iPad. If you're signed in to iCloud, HabitLoot also keeps a copy in your own private iCloud account, using Apple's CloudKit, so it's backed up and can move to a new device. That copy belongs to your iCloud account. We, the developer, have no access to it.
Children's names, reasons, reward names, and savings goal names are stored in iCloud with end-to-end encryption, so not even Apple can read them.
Sharing with your family
If you choose to share your family with another parent, or give a child their own read-only view, HabitLoot uses Apple's iCloud sharing. Only the people you invite can see what you share:
- The other parent can see and change your family's balances.
- A child can see only their own balance and history, and can't change anything.
You can see who has access and remove anyone at any time in HabitLoot's Settings. Sharing happens directly between your iCloud accounts; nothing passes through any server of ours.
What we don't do
- We don't run any servers that receive your data.
- We don't use analytics, crash reporting, or advertising services.
- We don't use third-party software development kits (SDKs) that collect data.
- We don't track you across apps or websites.
- We don't sell or share any information, because we don't have any.
Reminders
If you turn on payday reminders, HabitLoot schedules them on your device using iOS notifications. They're created and delivered locally and aren't sent to us.
Siri, Shortcuts, and widgets
If you ask Siri to reward a child or check a balance, Apple handles the request and passes HabitLoot only which child and which reason. HabitLoot makes the change on your device and doesn't send it anywhere but your own iCloud. Widgets read the same data on your device.
Face ID and passcode
If you turn on the lock, HabitLoot asks iOS to check your Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode. HabitLoot only learns whether the check succeeded; your face data and passcode never leave Apple's secure systems.
Purchases
HabitLoot Family is a one-time purchase made through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; we receive no payment card details or personal information about you.
Children's privacy
HabitLoot is made for parents and guardians to manage their family. A child's view is available only when a parent invites the child's Apple Account. HabitLoot doesn't collect personal information from children or anyone else, and children can't make purchases or change data in their view.
Deleting your data
- One child: open the child, tap Edit, then Delete.
- Everything on a device: delete the HabitLoot app.
- Your iCloud copy: on your iPhone, open Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Storage › Manage Storage, choose HabitLoot, and delete its data.
If you've shared your family, stop sharing first in HabitLoot's Settings so others lose access.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change ever affected what HabitLoot stores or shares, we'd explain it in the app's release notes first.
